French Creek Estuary Report: A Recent Report of its Historical, Community and Ecological Values

As preservation and protection of the French Creek Estuary is one of the most important goals of the Friends of French Creek Conservation Society, it is imperative and necessary to know what resources and conditions are present in the estuary lands. To this end, we have been working in conjunction with the Mount Arrowsmith Biosphere Region Research Institute (MABRRI) and Vancouver Island University (VIU). (See the PQB News article below) VIU students and staff over the spring and summer months undertook a study of the estuary lands. A detailed report on the history, current land use and ecology, including critical habitats, ecological threats and flora and fauna surveys has been published and was released on October 15, 2018.
